Paul P. Harris Rotary Park at Festival Hall
Racine Rotary Clubs have had a long and proud tradition of hosting “Post Prom” since 1953. On Saturday, August 8, 2020 the Racine Founders Rotary Club will be proud to once again host Post Prom at Racine’s Festival Hall and Paul P. Harris Rotary Park. This event is truly a Racine treasure that has grown to include nine area High Schools and over 1300 participants. The theme for this year’s Post Prom will be announced soon!
Post Prom is an all-night gala event, following individual prom events at all high schools, where students are treated to entertainment video music on large projection screens with smoke machines and laser light shows), karaoke, a wide array of physical activities, and unlimited food and non-alcoholic beverages, all in a completely safe environment designed for and by area young people to ensure a night full of Prom memories that will last a lifetime. The entire arrival event is broadcast live both on Milwaukee television station My24 and Milwaukee based radio station V100.
Following a tragic car accident that killed several SE Wisconsin students after a high school prom in 1953, the Rotary Clubs of Racine committed themselves to provide a safe and fun environment for area graduating seniors following their respective school proms. Since Rotary Post Prom has become a community-wide celebration for graduating seniors that is the ultimate culmination of their high school careers.
Over the years, tens of thousands of Racine students have enjoyed the glamour and excitements of Post Prom in Racine. And many of the Rotarians who plan and execute the event each year once were area high school students who attended Post Prom.
In recent years Post Prom has gathered national attention. It has been the subject of a award winning feature documentary entitled “The World’s Best Prom,” featured on NPR and has been a rite of passage for generations in Racine.
