Post Prom

Racine County Fairgrounds

Racine Founders Rotary Club is excited to present the 2023 Post Prom event! To facilitate a safe, outdoor event for our class of 2023 seniors, this year’s event will once again be at Racine County Fairgrounds.

Our committee works year-round to prepare an amazing event for the Class of 2023. We know you are excited to know more about ticket and viewer bleacher sales. With all the changes being made to accommodate the new event site and Covid guidelines, it is requiring additional attention to make sure every detail is thought out thoroughly. We promise we will release information as soon as we can.

We will be keeping many of the traditions that make Post Prom so special such as live coverage and student motorcade, but including appropriate safety precautions to make sure all attendees have a memorable experience just as generations of Racine residents have had.

Racine Rotary Clubs have had a long and proud tradition of hosting Post Prom since 1953. It was established to provide a safe and fun environment for area graduating seniors following their respective school proms. This event is truly a Racine treasure that has grown to over 1,300 participants. The event is just one of the ways Rotary has strived to put “Service Above Self” and has been serving the Racine community for over 100 years.

For Your Best VIP Motorcade Spectator Prom Experience…

Spectator Parking

Please enter via Hwy 11 and park in the designated section of the parking lot.

Handicapped Accessible Parking

Space will be allocated for handicapped parking. Please prepare for uneven terrain within the parking and seating areas.

Recommendations for a Great Spectator Experience:

Please remember this is park terrain. Some of the walkways are paved but some areas are uneven. Prom activities are also spread around the park. The entire viewing area is outdoors and uncovered. Temperatures do drop in the evenings and being spring in Wisconsin, rain can never be ruled out. It is best to watch weather forecasts and prepare accordingly.

Spectator Event Rules:

Absolutely no spectators are allowed to walk on the red carpet or enter the motorcade area. There will be hundreds of vehicles driving through and this is to keep attendees and spectators safe.

If you are experiencing symptoms of Covid-19, or have been exposed to someone who has tested positive, please refrain from attending for the safety of our attendees, volunteers, and other spectators.

Use of alcohol and illicit drugs is strictly prohibited and you will be asked to leave.

Spectator Completion of Motorcade

To ensure as many people get the opportunity to see their attendees, we ask that you leave the fairgrounds once your school has arrived. Roads will be dark for return trips, so please travel smartly and safely.

Motorcade:

The motorcade will enter the fairgrounds via the back entrance off Hwy 45.

Please keep in mind the motorcade timeline is an estimation. The length of the motorcade and traffic will have an impact on the timeline. School arrivals will be announced when their motorcades arrive at the fairgrounds.

MOTORCADE LINEUP

More information will be provided here and directly to students as it becomes available

To be able to safely provide a motorcade for the students to the Racine County Fairgrounds some accommodations have needed to be made, including changing the starting locations for some schools differing from their home schools. We work very closely with local law enforcement to provide a safe, fun, and unique never been seen before motorcade! More specific information about this will be provided to students through the schools and here as it is developed.

The times listed are ESTIMATED times. Contributing factors such as traffic and construction may affect actual times, so consider that as you plan to watch the seniors on the Red Carpet either during the live television coverage on My24 Milwaukee, online at my24milwaukee.com, or in-person in the VIP bleachers. Tickets for the VIP bleachers are available now!

View Red Carpet Arrivals From Home!!

Red Carpet arrivals will again be able to be viewed from home.

History of Prom in Racine

Following a tragic car accident that killed several SE Wisconsin students after a high school prom in 1953, the Rotary Clubs of Racine committed themselves to providing a safe and fun environment for area graduating seniors following their respective school proms. Since Rotary Post Prom has become a community-wide celebration for graduating seniors that is the ultimate culmination of their high school careers.

Over the years, tens of thousands of Racine students have enjoyed the glamour and excitement of Post Prom in Racine. And many of the Rotarians who plan and execute the event each year once were area high school students who attended Post Prom.

In recent years Post Prom has gathered national attention. It has been the subject of an award-winning feature documentary entitled “The World’s Best Prom,” featured on NPR, and has been a rite of passage for generations in Racine.
